You are invited to join us for this visit to the Karaiskakio Foundation, Nicosia, Â and take part in a short training session to take cheek swabs and learn how to register potential donors for the Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
We will car share from Limassol – meeting up at the Coffee Island at the Pyrgos/Paraklesia A1 exit at 9.30am. The training will be from 11.00am until about 12.30am. Afterwards we may decide to lunch in Nicosia – to be decided amongst the trainees.
CIWOT is supporting the foundation by our members volunteering to take cheek swabs.
The Karaiskakio Foundation is a non-profit organisation that aims to create a world without leukemia, a type of blood cancer that affects millions of people worldwide. The foundation operates the largest per capita Bone Marrow Donor Registry in the world, which helps patients find a matching donor for a life-saving bone marrow transplantation.Â
By supporting the Karaiskakio Foundation, you are not only helping to save lives (both on Cyprus and elsewhere in the world), but also to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. You are also contributing to the advancement of science and medicine in Cyprus and beyond.
If you are willing to volunteer for this important work, then please join us for this training day on the 30th October in Nicosia.
After your training you will be on our ‘Karaiskakio Volunteer Team’.
Periodically the Foundation will offer us dates for events when there will be interaction with the public. Our volunteer team has a What’s app group where the dates are posted. If we are available we simply post our willingness to attend and take cheek swabs. There is no obligation to attend specific events – we simply volunteer when convenient.
Please sign up if you would like to attend the training day.
