Anna Novikova
Treasurer
1. Why are you interested in this position, and what can you offer?
I have always been interested in the work of charitable organisations. Sometimes helping another person isn’t difficult—we just don’t always take the opportunity.
One message has stayed with me for many years. It was from a campaign supporting hospice care for cancer patients: “If you can’t cure, it doesn’t mean you can’t help.” I truly believe this is true for all of us. If we’re honest, everyone needs help in one way or another. Some people need practical support, while others simply need an encouraging smile.
For me, serving on the Board is also an opportunity to support the Society itself. I hope to contribute with my organisational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to help wherever I can.
2. Where are you from originally?
I’m originally from Russia and now live in Cyprus with my family. Volunteering and charitable work have always been an important part of our culture, and I hope to bring that same spirit of kindness and community to CIWOT.
3. What skills or talents do you have that most people don’t know about?
I genuinely enjoy spreadsheets. Organising numbers is strangely satisfying!
4. What are your hobbies?
I love travelling and discovering new places and cultures. I also try to stay active—although, if I’m honest, my favourite part of any workout is when it’s over!
These days many of my hobbies overlap with my son’s. We enjoy drawing, making crafts, and thanks to him I’ve even returned to music. Seeing the world through a child’s eyes is a wonderful way to rediscover old passions.
