About the Event
The Joy of Baroque is an invitation to experience the warmth, elegance, and expressive richness of Baroque music in an intimate chamber setting.
Performed by the Cyprus Baroque Trio — Birgitta Birchall (harpsichord), Florian Rabe (flute), and Klaus Storm (oboe)—the programme celebrates musical dialogue, colour, and contrast, from the vibrant energy of Johann Christian Bach and Georg Philipp Telemann to the intimacy and depth of J.S. Bach and Arcangelo Corelli.
A special moment in the first half is Benjamin Britten’s “Pan” from Six Metamorphoses after Ovid, performed as an oboe solo—a reflective modern interlude that casts the Baroque sound world in a new light.
After the interval, the journey continues with music by Domenico Scarlatti, Corelli, Johann Friedrich Kleinknecht, and Telemann, revealing the playfulness, elegance, and emotional variety that make Baroque music so enduringly joyful.
