CIWOT celebrates International Women’s Day 2020
Focusing on the 2020 International Women’s Day theme of #EachforEqual, members enjoyed an afternoon event at the Curium Palace Hotel on 8 March. CIWOT President, Linda Rich, outlined the history of International Women’s Day and how it has evolved over the years, ending with a slideshow of the many activities CIWOT holds to empower women. We discussed various themes around achieving gender equality: how can we celebrate women’s achievements, help forge a gender-equal world and have a gender-equal mindset? In particular, how can we include these in CIWOT? The afternoon concluded with poetry readings from Linda, Pamela Calver and Barbara Jones. Clearly, we have some talented poets in our membership!

Heritage Christmas Fete 2019
CIWOT was at the Heritage Christmas Fete on Saturday 7th December 2019, raising funds and awareness in support of AGAPI Limassol Cyprus. I was told that the famous Snowman always draws a crowd, and this year was no exception, being an instant hit with the children. As my first time attending and helping at the Fete, it was great to see everyone coming together to support a common cause. A lot of people came by the stall and was interested to play the ‘Golden Carrot Lucky Dip’ Snowman game, delve into the Arts & Crafts, and even play the Lucky Draw to win a teddy bear. Various items were on offer, from teabags, winter pouches, and wonderful clay monuments made by the CIWOT ladies themselves.
Over 600 Euros were raised on behalf of AGAPI from the Heritage Christmas Fete. It was a wonderful and warming experience, especially to have this on a beautiful sunny day with great company. Good work ladies – well done to everyone that organised and participated!
